Here is something you don't see everyday. This is a badge from the S.N.A.S.P. in Mozambique. The S.N.A.S.P. (National Service for Public Security) was the Mozambique version of the Soviet KGB and the East German MfS. The S.N.A.S.P. was trained by the EG STASI and the Cuban DGI. They were extremely brutal, even by African standards, in their treatment of their fellow country men and women.
If you will notice on this badge, you will see a black figure holding a traditional African shield and throwing a long spear. In my way of thinking, this is a variation on the KGB and the STASI badges. Both the KGB badge and the STASI badge incorporated a sword and a shiled into thir badge. The same is done for this badge. Instead of using a sword and shield, they have used a long spear and a long shield for thie badge. The symbol above the figure is the State Symbol of Mozambique.
Information about this organization is scarce. I have searched the internet extensively and have found very little about this organization. If anyone else can shed some light on this organization or badge, please let me know.
