1945 Russian Medal

I picked up this Medal from a vets wife yesterday,Can anyone tell me what this medal was awarded for,and the value?Thanks very much.

Patrick's entirely in the right of it.
In addition the suspension link is replaced (with what looks like thin copper wire) and the suspension itself is a replacement as well as it's of the last (or current) version.
The medal itself is a Variation 2 as it's ring is "U" shaped.
About 1.8 million of these were issued as opposed to the 14.9 Victory over Germany medals.
10 to 15 bucks is it's worth. At the moment.
