    Russian Cap. What Is This?

    Dear All,

I have this Russian Cap in my home, that I brought from Moscow, about 15 years ago.
I would like to know what kind of Army Branch belong, and its value today.
    I have no idea.

    Thank you for your help.

Hi Ciano, I don't know much at all about post war stuff. But I can tell you this: that wreathed star badge should not be on the cap.

      Cheers, Ade.

Its a VOKhR Supervisor's hat 1969-1991... but the badges are incorrect.

          Hi,

Thank you all for your help.
When I was there in 1992, I saw a lot of "Military" caps in Moscow selling for a couple of US Dollars, to all the Western Tourists.
The sellers were in the street with all these caps, asking us all the time to buy their military caps....and I bought this one just for fun....
After all it was just after the "Perestroika"....so everything could be possible....

          cheers

This is actually a railway worker's hat with incorrect badges. It should have a winged wheel on top and badge with crossed wrenches in a cockade and wreath on the band. These kind of hats were regularly seen on metro workers throughout the city of Moscow.

There's a picture of your hat, second one from the bottom, on this website: http://www.undertheredstar.com/nonmvdrr.htm

Given that this hat was made in 1992, and given that the badges are incorrect on it and in need of replacing, I'd say it's probably worth about $15 a best.

My suggestion would be to get the right badges for it and have it as a nice souvenier of your time in Russia!

            Dave

Hi! I think 15$ is too high price.... For the same cap in Poland you must pay max 15zl (6-7$)...... it's not rare.....

I think both of the badges on the hat were originally on ushankas. I definately know that the top one is, as I have a 1987 dated one with the same badge.

The bottom one stuck on this hat is a land forces officer parade cockade.

This cap - the property of the worker of the railway. Who that has hung up army officer cocardes. I think it there was a joke of the seller of a hat

Never saw the badge to the crown but the Rest is OK to me. The only difference is the Stamp inside but from the outside there is no difference between BOPX and Railway's. I had them too with the different stamps.
I also have the Collar and enlisted Cap Badges for the BOPX what are armed Guards for Government and Official Buildings like Post Offices, Banks, City Halls etc.
