    order of the red star

    guys i need your opninion on this
    i want to purchase this one
    i know there are different types and also different range of value,between 20-325 dollar
    so could someone tell me by the pic,if this is the more expensive or the cheap one ?

      based on the serial number it falls squarely in the middle of the common ones....not an expensive one...i think only like 3.3 million were awarded

        there are 4.000.000 awarded
        this one is definitly post war with such a serial number

          from that serial number,it was awarded in July 1948, give or take a month on either side. Possibly a late WW2 award, but more likely a 15 years long service award to an officer or career NCO.

              For anyone collecting Soviet awards, Paul McDaniel's "The Comprehensive Guide to Soviet Orders and Medals" is an absolute must. This big heavy volume is the "Bible" for Soviet award collecting.

              As far as serial numbers are concerned, they were all a mess during WW2, but afterwards, again centrally issued, the numbers are possible to date, from known, documented awards (either Archive researched or with 1950s Orders Books giving bestowal dates). I am building up a data base on these for military awards.
