I assume these two are army visors, but could anyone please confirm this? I assume the one with golden chinstrap is for officers and the other is for EMs?? What do the different colours indicate? Thanks for your help on this. Cheers, Torsten.

According to my book "Uniforms of the Armed Forces of Eastern European Countries" put out by the Defense Intelligence Agency, I think with a fairly high probability that the bottom hat is Ministry of the Interior National Security Corps. The top one is quite an enigma, the short brim and the material it is made of leads me to believe that it might be the People's Militia cap. However, I've never seen one with the red band before. Hope this helps. By the way, nay dates ont he inside?

Just by drawing parallells with the Soviets (which isn't always pure speculation when dealing with the Warsaw Treaty nations), I would say the top one was Police (like you Soviet Militia hat - see the colour scheme again?) and the latter was some form of State Security.
The "brick red" colour is nearly always "State Security" of some sort. Its the colour of the NKVD, the MVD and of course the MfS together with most other Socialist nations similar organisations.

I've found reference to it here:
http://reference.allrefer.com/countr...ovakia141.html
and also looking at the rank insignia for the SNB here:
http://www.uniforminsignia.net/?p=show&id=92&sid=185
The colour is the brick red again, and going through the other items on that page, only their police have the same colour - as it the Soviet Union and the DDR.
Couple that with the comment from the first link about the uniform being the same as the Army but with red bands... looks a good fit.
Short of a Czech expert rolling up, I think my reasoning is sound

by the sounds of it the Czech Stasi did not have any uniforms at all and was on plain clothes and so, the caps are probably from the regular police? but for now, it sufficient for me that they are Czech Police and not Czech Army and that is a lot more knowledge than I had about these yesterday morning ...;. Cheers, Torsten.

Czech Hats
Yes, the second hat is SNB, but the first hat could be Border Guards if the color of the hat is actually Kelly green. I am not sure if this hat is blue due to the picture. I am almost sure the Czech Militia hats were all blue without red piping. The later Czech Border Guard visors resembled the their KGB counterparts (Kelly green, dark blue band & pinkish/magenta piping). Either way, they are interesting and rare visors. You rarely see them offered on E-stand or through militaria dealers.
