          colors, etc.

The buttons are ok, but i have to say that i would probably not grab this for my website/list...buds are really one of the few areas where high quality fakes are made that are almost as good as the originals (and i do not like them all that much).

The colors of the star still bother me. The blue is very light in color; not sky blue for Air Force, but not the NKVD royal deep blue either. I can't say its repro because i do not have anything to really point to (other than the odd colors) but it just does not give me a good vibe.

I think the original tone is quite hard to catch in a digital picture. I have compaired the blue tone to the piping of a NKVD EM board and it is even a bit darker than the piping. I hope this helps.

I am glad to hear that beside the blue tone of the star you can't make any red flags out. However, I am quite "shocked" to hear that very good fakes of these are around.

The item itself was washed/cleaned at one stage.

Thank you all and please feel free to make further comments.

              Cheers

I don’t really know what to say, but your Budyenovka could be a high quality reproduction made for re-enactment.<o></o>
                    <o></o>
First of all, what is very suspicious is that we cannot see any trace of use. It seems the Budyenovka was made recently. Even the star looks new, not as new as the one I showed though. If the Budyenovka was never used, why are the stamps faded like this? <o></o>
                    <o></o>
Those Budyenovka are copied since a long time in <st1:country-region w:st="on">Russia</st1:country-region> and in the <st1> Soviet Union</st1> too. Many were used for cinema or for military ceremonies and some are now made in <st1:city w:st="on"><st1>St. Petersburg</st1></st1:city> for re-enactment purpose or only too fool inexperienced collectors.<o></o>
                    <o></o>
They sometime used old tissue and old buttons to build those hats. Sometimes the buttons are soaked in an acid solution only to look older.<o></o>
                    <o></o>
I haven’t handle so many Budyenovkas in the past, but this one is made the same way the ones I once had in my custody and they turned out to be modern reproduction. I’d be very careful with those kinds of hats.<o></o>

Shouldnt it be a multi-part capstar on something supposedly as old as this?

I may be mistaken here but I think that the two piece stars were just a variation and that one piece stars did exist very early as well? However, I am no expert at all. I am just interested in learning about this topic.

                        Thanks!

The budionovka is St. Peterburg made item, of course seen originals must be 4 pieces/angles construction and they are pre 1930's made with piped star like that. Of course the red star is original soldiers M 35 star, but after the war soviets made them till the mid of 50's. Two parts construction stars are for officers, but used as soldiers fashion on soldiers headgear too, and they made them only pre-war

So that means the Budyenovka was made after 1991. This one has the exact same construction from the 2 Budyenovkas I once bought and returned to a seller because they were post-soviet reenactment hats.
