WWII Red Army raincoat "poncho" 1945

    Hello,

Here is a WWII Red Army rain coat "poncho". Pretty good condition
has small white paint splatter on a small area. I collect German WWII
items, can anyone tell me what these go for?

    Thanks

Its certainly of the earlier design with the stitched reenforcement of the corner holes... never seen one dated though?

            Maybe worth US$70?

Actually some of the 41 and earlier examples have the leather grommet on one side like the early postwar ones do. Most are well used which is probably why you have never seen a dated one, probably faded and washed out. They are not too uncommon... dated that is.

I have rather a lot of plashs here (haha don't ask!) but they are nearly all with the leather grommets (they also all have the extra loop which shows they are made to go with the later motorised infantry webbing gear), I suggest the leather grommet isn't "early postwar" but something which continued until rather much later - maybe almost to the end.

The metal grommet'ed ones also have plastic toggles as opposed to wooden ones.

                However, I digress ;-)

Ost Front is asking 200.00 for a 44 dated one. I would say yours is in better shape from the photos. The date of a year later is going to knock a little off the price. 100-150 for a wartime dated is a decent price.
