Need help: Original WWII red enamel stars?

Some time ago I bought these two red enamel stars for my Russian WWII collection. My guess is they are WWII period originals for visor hat/fur hat/overseas hat – am I right?

    Thank you in advance

Hi Marius, they look fine to me.

      Cheers, Ade.

They are wonderful original stars of the smaller 30MM type (as opposed to the 35MM supposedly reserved for senior commanders) design of 1935 and pre-1940 found on all sorts of headgear from EM sailors to Tank officers and so on & so on. The English language "Bibles" say different, but period photos speak the way it was.

Many a GI traded smokes and etc for these and post 1940 (one piece)versions, found their way here to the US, and wound up in their estate lots.

That is where I have aquired most of mine.

I thought the "donald duck" used a size midway between the pilotka size and the ushanka/officer size? Or is that why you say pre-1940?

I'm not sure of the answer - so someone do tell me!
