Hi Guys, were there lots of different designs of Soviet May Day badges or was the same design used for several years? I have got this May Day Badge adn judging by the quality or construction, etc. I would assume that it should be quite an early one? Is it possible to put a date on this one? Cheers, Torsten.

It means the look of the quality of the piece seems to come from the early to mid Soviet period, when they used brass and enamel as opposed to late-era (70s-80s) when they used paint and aluminum.
And the pin looks older as well, although I'm no expert.

yes, it is quite a well made badge and I would think it early, but the question is how early of course ..
I dimly seem to recall having seen some dated Soviet May Day badges before from 1920's?? I mean by dated that they had the year that they were issued on them as part of the design....could this be so or am I getting confused with something else? Cheers, Torsten.

I swiped the images right off WAPF.
After posting them this morning at the SMAPF one guy thinks Bulgarian and the other says not Bulgarian, Soviet, maybe 1955 or '60.
So far that's it. Will post again if anything earthshattering is posted there.Thanks,
