    Soviet Luftschutz Helmet ??

Hi Gents ..I never saw one of these before and can't find anything in any of my Books ...maybe I'm looking in the wrong places ?
One Collector guessed it was a Pre War Soviet Fireman's Helmet ..another said maybe Civil Defence ? Maybe Factory Protection ?
Low quality Leather Liner ..very dried out and no markings at all.
    Anyone recognize this pattern ?

Army Fire Service from WW2. It look's like a newer Liner.

The hammer and pipe wrench on the emblem suggests maybe pipeline /construction troops?? Is that an oil well head tower in the background?

Although I can't understand why either my suggestion or Nico's would warrant a special helmet when an army one would do?

It is a firefighter's helmet. The "oil derrick" is a partially raised ladder on the back of the firetruck.

I'm a little confused ...would it be WW2 Army Fire-Fighter ...or, maybe there's no connection to the Army at all and it's just a common Civilian Fireman's Helmet that they used into the 1960's or something ?

                    helmet

It is a firefighter helmet; they show up now and then, are not rare and were used wartime and postwar. On E you can see them listed as "NKVD Firefighter Helmet" by sellers who want huge prices for them. The firefighting services were under NKVD control, but calling it an NKVD helmet is a bit much!

Got it ..thanks Doug. I wish there was a way to know for sure if this one was War time or ..Cold War Era. If it is WW2 (or earlier) I'd consider keeping it as an example. ..the construction looks like war time to me, not high quality

I think dating the helmet would be hard. Bob Clawson once told me that crappy fire helmets like this were the bane of Soviet firefighters for many years. The magenta color of the liner on your helmet might suggest it is not wartime, but the shell does have that WWII green color. The helmet I have (incidentially, acquired from DougD, so kosher) has has a brown leather liner of similar construction, but I have no idea when it is from. Looks neat though.

This is circa 1950\s Fireman's helmet.
The soviet firemans was never civil organization, they use till the end of the Soviet Union military equipment, weapon and uniform. Firstly the firemans was the part of NKVD, later the part of MVD
