    Bulgarian Ribbon Bar Help

Here is another ribbon-bar puzzle, combining a royal Order of Bravery possibly with an award of the Peoples Republic.

Could the second one be the Medal for Participation in the Antifascist Struggle? That medal seems to have similar colors but the center strip should be much wider.

If it is communist-era Bulgarian, then it is possible the first ribbon is for the Order of Maternal Glory. The second could be the medal for distinction in the construction troops, which would make for a pretty tough mama. I don't have a good color chart and my Bulgarian sucks for reading the descriptions in my reference books.

      Dave,
thanks for your reply. The colors in my scan did not come out right so that one really could mistake the left award for the maternity medal. In reality, the two outside stripes are silvery reflective as in the monarchy bravery order.

I found the right award: Medal for Combat Merit, instituted on Dec. 13, 1950. Its ribbon is red with a narrow gray line in the center.

I was hoping for this bar to be another combination of monarchy and communist awards.
