There is some informations out there that wasn't in the book or that have been corrected.

This is a nice starter book on Russian helmets and I believe the only one in English on the suject. However, the book is far from being complete on the subject. It doesn't speak about all possible variations on the subject, like for exemple your type of liner. It sticks a bit more on the factory issued "standard" helmets. It is still very enjoyable to read and gives you a first sight on the subject.
Thanks for explaining that so I won't take what the Book says as the 100% "last word" ..but it sounds like it gives a rough outline on these Helmets.
It's interesting to me that it seems many of these "Blokadnik" Helmets have survived in nice shape and with the Star still painted on ..and are now in Collections. That makes it look like they must have had many of them that were not issued and sat in storage. Is there any explanation out there for this ?

Absolutely normal leather chinstraps , all is OK

Are all sock liners made with baize cloth blokadnik helmets? I've got a ssch39 with the sock liner and such cloth.

I don't believe so. Most SSh39 had a "sock liner" and I was surprised to here that this helmet has a so called "Blokadnik " liner. Something new to me.

Sorry, let me be a bit clearer--I'm specifically interested in the baize cloth part of the liner set-up. I know that most ssh39s had sock liners, but espenlaub suggests that the presence of the baize cloth in a sock liner, at least with respect to the m36 helmet posted in this thread, is indicative of blockade production. So, my question is does that type of cloth found in in a ssh39 mean that the ssh39 helmet is blockade production?

Nack, the only person that could answer you is Espenlaub. He is the one pretending these are Blockade helmets. Unfortunately I can't help you for this.
