    Order of Lenin

This is Order of Lenin # 19183 awarded to Antonina Alexandrovna Semenova on 1. July 1944. The interesting thing is that this type 5, Var. 1 has a lower number than mentioned in McDanioels book (lowest observed 21.207) and is therefor well inside the range of Type 4, Var. 2.

I still have to do the research on her. Maybe she was a sniper?!

Without a photo, it's really frustrating in the wartime Orders Booklets because they are only serial numbered, without the Letter Prefix to the book number which provides "sort" of issue on later ones.

        No Photo!?

        Rick,

how the h*** did you know that the booklet has no photo??? After reading my post about 20 times I'm quite sure I didn't mention it. Please give me the secret handshake - I have no idea, Mr. Copperfield

        Please help. Living is learning.

Easy: statistical odds. Nine out of 10 don't have any photo, just that annoying "valid without photo" stamp.

And (my Holmesian powers of deduction )... if it had a photo of the Comrade in question, you'd have known if she was military or civilian...

something which can be told from later issues of Orders Booklet by that letter preceding the book serial. (and even the rank status of military holders, for the 1950s... ooooooooo )
