    Soviet medal help

    Hello guys

Soviet medals isnt my strong point, so I thought I'll run these by you guys. Got them quite cheap from an aquaintance the other day, and since I dont collect I'm thinking about selling them. How much would be a fair price per piece, or all together?

    Thanks in advance
    Robert

Come on folks It seems as if the red star is standing in around 30-35$. The great patriotic war around 15-20$?

              How about the medal groups?

Unfortunately, the medals are not the best. The ribbons are mounted backwards (not a problem) but quite a number of the medals are mounted on the wrong ribbons and out of order. It's definately "value of the parts" lot, vice the value of them as a group.

Were I to sell the whole lot (Red Star, jubilee OGPW and medals) on eBay, I'd be very happy to get $65 for the lot.

                Hope that helps!

                Dave

I echo what Dave has said. The first thing that stands out are the ribbons (besides mounted backwards) are on the wrong medals. Very strange.

Only I'd be a little more generous ... as a parts, I'm sure you could easily get over $100, if you could sort out the ribbons.

Thank you for the reply, guys

As I'm sure you have found out, I'm quite a rookie on the field of Soviet-militaria. Third Reich is my real branch of interest. Could you help me with some of the names of the medals?

                        Robert,

Scroll down these links. Most of the ones you show are illustrated here. It will also show you the correct ribbons for the medals you show above.

                          Bar 1 (left to right):

                          - The Jubilee Medal for 30 Years of the Soviet Army and Navy (wrong ribbon. That ribbon is for the Medal for Combat Service)
                          - The Jubilee Medal for 50 Years of the Soviet Army and Navy (right ribbon but wrongly mounted)
                          - The Jubilee Medal for the 20th Year Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (right ribbon but wrongly mounted)
                          - The Medal for a Veteran of Labor (right ribbon but wrongly mounted)

                          Bar 2 (left to right):

                          - Idem as 1st Medal on Bar 1. (Again wrong ribbon. That ribbon is for the Order of Labor Glory 3rd Class)
                          - The Jubilee Medal for the 30th Year Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (right ribbon but wrongly mounted)
                          - The Jubilee Medal for the 40th Year Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (right ribbon, but again wrongly mounted)
                          - The Jubilee Medal for the 100th Year Anniversary of Lenin's Birth (wrong ribbon. That ribbon is for the Medal for the 20th Anniversary of Victory in the GPW)

                          Bar 3 (left to right):

                          - Not sure about this one! Either The Medal for Valiant Labor in the GPW, or The Medal for Victory over Germany in the GPW (in any case, wrong ribbon. That one is for the Medal for Combat Service)
                          - Idem as 2nd one on Bar 1. Again wrong ribbon. Same ribbon as last one on previous bar.
                          - The Jubilee Medal for 60 years of the Armed Forces of the USSR (right ribbon, wrongly mounted)
                          - The Jubilee Medal for 70 years of the Armed Forces of the USSR (right ribbon, wrongly mounted)
                          - Idem as last Medal on Bar 1 (again right ribbon but again wrongly mounted)

                          Bar 4 (left to right):

                          - Same case as for 1st Medal on Bar 3. Again in any case wrong ribbon. That ribbon is for the Medal for 20 Years of Irreprochable Service in the Armed Forces of the USSR.
                          - Idem as 1st Medal on Bar 1 and Bar 2 (notice that this Medal seems weird! Either a fake ? or very worn!). Again wrong ribbon. That ribbon is for the Medal for 60 years of the Armed Forces of the USSR.
                          - Idem as 3rd Medal on Bar 1 (right ribbon but wrongly mounted)
                          - Idem as last Medals on Bar 1 and Bar 3 (again right ribbon but wrongly mounted)

                          Ouch...

                          Hope it helps.

Can you post pics of the reverse of both the OPW and the ORS?

A few things to be done with these then I'll see what I can do. When It comes to the back of the 2 "badges", I'll try to post some pictures in the morning

And thanks for the links, Darrell

Whoever mounted these ribbons needs to be spanked!
                              Thanks,
