    Rumanian Cased Presentation Dagger

    Gents,
Below are several pictures of a cased Rumanian dagger presented to a Colonel. I returned this dagger because almost all of the finish was gone from the scabbard and the handle of the dagger. The hangers, on the other hand, are in as new condition. Other cased daggers, East German, in my collection have not lost any of the gilt from the scabbard. Is it normal for these daggers, stored in their case, to lose their gilt like this one did? Does any one have any idea of how many of these daggers would have been awarded?
    Regards,

    Gordon

Close up of the crest on the scabbard. It is the same on both sides.
