collecting these things is good... This weekend I picked up these two beauties.
First off is the Distinguished Service Medal for military and militia. (crossed PPsH's at the bottom) Agian this is the rare Rakosi era medal with the pre 1957 symbol. This one was instituted in 1953 but in a different form, the next year in 1954 we see this example emerging. During the three year period that this was awared ony 1725 were given out.Comment

And the true crown of my find...This is the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Peoples Republic - 5th Class. These were first insituted in 1949 the beginning of the reign of terror. Though its only a 5th class, only 1619 were awarded between 1949 and 1957. A rare one indeed and with such 'class'
