    New Shvartz Helmet

I've wanted one of these for a long time, and finally one arrived at my door today! This is truly an amazing helmet, and a welcome addition to my Russian family of helmets.

Thanks Ade. I should add...if I buy one more piece of militaria after this one this year my wife might kill me! But I think it was worth it!

            Very nice Peter !

As I can see you must have now in your collection almost every kind of Soviet helmet that existed. By the way, in 2 months you can buy one more piece of militaria, because it will be a new year.

                  Peter,

That is a very nice helmet! What time frame were these helmets issued?

These were produced around 1932 or so. These were likely never "issued" as such. They were likely tested and considered, but that's as far as it had gone.

Experimentals are my new helmet passion. I just picked this helmet up too:

That other experimental is the American Liberty Bell, which was actually adopted by the army in 1918. But the soldiers hated it so much during testing that the army changed their minds.

Thanks Peter.Interesting.Is that a 3 pad liner system?
Were there many more experimental types before the introduction of the US M1?
