    Soviet peaked caps 1941-43 ?

    Are these Soviet officers peaked caps ?

    From the carabinieri website, an article about their service in Russia.

    I don't know who those guys are but WWII soviet officers' visors did not have braided chin straps. The soviets also did not have the tradition or fashion of routing the top braid over the star or whatever badge that is. The color insignia looks German in nature... Could they be some volunteers?

        I don't believe these to be Soviet caps. Uniforms are also not Soviet. Don't know what it is though. Perhaps from some of the eastern European axis?

          Maybe Italian...

          It looks like the other soldiers are Italian...I think Italian Carabinieri. I struggled to find pictures.

            I think the original poster is coming from that direction...:

            So, yes, the guys on the right with the Italian hats and hat devices are Italian Caraninieri. The guys with the visors are yet to be identified.

                Zebra, is this the picture you were thinking of? It doesn't really help much, but interesting that the Germans were doing this with their chincord as well.
