    Post War Splinter Trousers..

I found these today. They're in pretty good condition other then someone tossed a bottle of gun oil in the tote with them..

With the damage encored what would one place the value of these trousers?

I want to keep them but perhaps its better to pass them on and wait for a new set to come along.. We have close to 3 CONEX trailers full of German kit to sort yet from an estate sale....

Even with the oil damage this is a very nice example of Green Splinter variant. i can see it's missing the belt and the cuff ties. Given the condition I'm surprised about the latter, but not a big deal IMHO. A picture of the label is always appreciated by BW collectors.

If you're hoping to get a "new" set of BW Splinter... take a number and stand at the back of the line. I think the latest number available is 10,235 and currently #2 is still waiting for a chance at one Seriously, I've seen only a handful of close to unissued pieces in all the years I've been collecting. And for some reason usually trousers. I saw one sell a few years ago for close to $500 USD from what I remember.

My point is if you like the pattern, my advice is you hold onto this one because you will struggle to find one in better condition. And to do that you'll have to constantly monitor German eBay and pay far more than you will get for selling this one on eBay. Mmmm... with shipping you should expect to pay around $300 for a better condition one on German eBay and you'll likely get about half that or less selling this one on US eBay. You might do better in a private sale to a German collector.

I thought I had made a label pic. I knew that was important but it was a long day of dirty WWII kit and i forgot.. I will provide it tomorrow..It has the belt. We just removed it so the oil didn't get onto it..there is no more moving oil. Its all be soaked up. Its just stained now..

Thanks for your advice Steve. Very much appreciated..

Good to hear about the belt! If it's original to the trousers (unlikely if it wasn't sewn on) that's even better. Finding the right length, condition, and color variant to match trousers is often problematic. I've got a few spare belts with no trousers to match to, and some trousers with no belts. Grr
