Post-War ?? Mountain Piton Hammer

Hi,

Still cleaning out the closet. What do I have here? I know it is Piton Hammer. Is it post-war or pre-war or WWII? I suspect the gray as been added after the fact and it is made by Stubai due to the diamond shape marking.

Thoughts?

Very good questions. The maker mark makes me think of WWI. WWII examples I have seen were usually marked to a GJ regiment. At least my ice axe was. Other than what I have said I can not help.
