How does the LHBw code system work?

I'd like to know more about how the LHBw code system works. Specifically, if two similar items have different LHBw numbers, does that mean the two items are not identical? Or does it mean there's some sort of bureaucratic difference, such as contract purchase or stock categories?

Is there a public database that can be searched to find out more information about a specific LHBw item?

2 or 3 yrs. ago I asked the same question in a LHBW Shop.
Interesting Answer: I don't care, I only sell the Stuff.
Most ashaming was the sale of MILTEC Flecktarn, Camo Field Caps with the 1956 Cap Badge and such Stuff. It's the Soldiers demand was the answer.
At julius Leber Kaserne I saw, I think to remember a Captain with a Miltec Flecktarn (US) M65 Field Jacket walking through the Main Gate.
