Repiped BW visor cap

Hello there,

Did the BW rework existing visor caps when Waffenfarben were introduced?
I've had this 1962-dated cap for nearly a decade, but could never explain the addition of light grey piping on top of the original "neutral" piping.
Is this simply a case of someone messing around with military surplus, or could it be a legitimate period modification?

I have never seen a cap modified like this one before. However, it could have been done for an individual and not as a general practice.

Waffenfarben were introduced 1962, so it is possible (modification of very late production older model). A similar example with blue piping added for Sanitätstruppe appeared recently on ebay. Label was too faded to find a date.
