Didier,

I have a couple of pocket hanger related books. This insignia is depicted in none of them. Also the proportions of the shield look rather unusual for a German pocket hanger. That does not mean anything but have you thought of some other origin. Maybe Belgium or Italy etc.?

I don't think this is of German origin. There are rather specific specifications for what goes on these badges and where things can be placed and this one is way outside those specs. That being said, reserve units take a lot of deviations from the specs but I doubt this can fit into a reserve unit either.

From the symbols, my guess goes to something like 4th ADA.
Maybe a Pic of the Back guards us to a positive ID, as it shows a possible origin of manufacture.
