    German Knife Type And Age

I picked this up a while back and remembered a style from WW2 which I always thought was neat. Then I found this and knew it was newer but not sure how new. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

      German Paratroopers Knife.
      Civil Verion I think.
It's a so called "Fallmesser" as the blade falls out of the body when released.
Illegal to carry and asssemble in Germany.

Thanks and it’s odd that they would make this illegal. It’s not that dangerous to me but that just . I wonder what the German laws are on knives.

I found it at a flea market and for the price I couldn’t pass it up.

I've always wondered about this too. When I was in Germany back in 1991 I bought a switchblade, no problem. In fact, my first impression of Germany was getting off the train in Frankfurt and seeing one of the local "colorful characters" outside the station throwing a switchblade at a tree for target practice. I don't know if the laws have changed since then or if "stiletto" type knives were always illegal.

I will now wait for one of our kind and informative German friends to educate me

              Steve

It's classified as a hidden Weapon as you can carry it in your Hand, maybe with the cuffs over it and just press the button to get the blade out, the next is the fixed blade and as it's issued as a Military Knife it's regulated by the Weapons Law as a Weapon and not just a knife.

                    muddyboots,

Recent German laws on carrying knives have become very strict. Serving members have posted on the forum that they can not carry their issue pocket knives while in civilian dress as it is against the law. In uniform it is ok to carry their pocket knives.

                    Regards,

                    Gordon

It´s a clone of the Bundeswehr Kappmesser Modell 1963, (1963 pattern cord cutter knife).
