    Polizei Group

Hi Folks: When we were visiting friends in Germany early this year,,,we visited a retired Polizei officer and his wife. While we were at their house, my wife said that I collected militaria. He walked down the hallway and came back carrying his Polizei service jacket and said that I could have it. I was surprised and floored but he walked again down the hallway and came back carrying his Polizei helmet and a plastic box containing all his insignia. He gave me the helmet and he said that I could have any of the insignia in the box. I selected some items with him. He said that his daughters wouldn't want any of it...so I could have what I wanted. This group is special to me...

      Edelweisse,

That is some gift! You were very lucky that your wife mentioned that you collected militaria. Not everyday a helmet with decal drops into your lap.

      Regards,

Exactly! The jackets are very easy to get, but not with a story to go with it The helmet, on the other hand, is pretty pricey with the decal still intact.

Ironically I'm looking for a slightly older version of one of the badges you selected!

Which older version are you looking for Steve? Post a picture of what you're looking for.

Thank you for your comments...I was surprised....and lost for words.

Are there any stamps inside of the helmet?

Excellent condition! Interesting that it is green and not gray-blue like the ones that were for sale a few years ago (I have one of those). Is there a date inside the helmet? I'm wondering if it might establish a "not older than" date.

Hi: PaulR...there are a few markings. Liner is ink stamped "56", name is written on skirt, and the lid is stamped "Q64"
