Helmet BGS, Hamburg

Hi, mates !

Auctioned this helmet of the BGS, (Bundesgrenzschutz), showin´ the Hamburg city coat of arms.

Vereinigte Deutsche Nickelwerke AG, Schwerte/Ruhr

Such helmets, carried in the German police, riot police, BGS, GSG9, SEK´s, aren´t that easy to get nowadays.

Some buffoons revamp such helmets to "genuine" Wehrmacht helmets again, and, again ...

They destroy original helmets of the german police organizations, and, that´s a shame !

Thanks for showing this excellent helmet. Anyone trying to collect this type of helmet would be lucky to find one in this condition.

I´m not collecting helmets actually.

I´m doing in combat knives, but, meanwhile, I do own a bunch of Police, and, BGS -helmets.

I really like them and they´re not that expensive, than WWII helmets !

interesting, all Hamburg helmets I have seen were smooth paint of slightly different colour and used the postwar 3-rivet liners in "M40" type shells. This look almost like reissued S-H Polizei helmet?

Hi Klaus,
did´nt S.-H. buy the Helmets from Berlin? They should be in smooth painting then...this looks like a genuine BGS-one. Interesting...

I thought, that this helmet was olive colour, but probably lighting trick me. I had olive textured helmet, that I was told was S-H, but I know many are smooth. Not sure, if they bought them from Berlin. Berlin helmet are different colour (brownish olive or blue-grey), unless S-H repainted them.
