    identification needed for Mg ammo box markings!!

    Hi all
    picked up this nice Mg ammo box.. I think its post war ...it has dark green paint BGS, berlin polizei?? and it has a maker stamp gew wartime manufacturer but undated ..a and a white eagle stamp with B.M.d.I. and 2 WuG 2... any ideas!!??? its leather pull handle fittings still have masking tape on and there was remnants of the same on the handle leatherwork as well!! its not a recent re-spray most likely 60's 70's at the latest!!!

    Top row is for Bundesministerium des Inneren
    2nd Row, don't Know what the Wu stands for. G is for Group and the Numbers maybe for the 2nd Squad in the 2nd Group.

      "WuG" was in my (Bw) unit the "Waffen- und Gerätewart" (armory NCO).

          MG-Box

          It´s the same stamp as in the early BGS Gasmask-cans.
          Can "WuG" mean "Abteilung Waffen und Gerät" ?

            Hummm so another question...why would they stamp an Mg ammo box!!???? passed examination perhaps!!???
            perhaps the 2's are like an I.D. code for a particular examiner??
