Hello all, I have recently purchased a large lot of militaria items, mostly DDR, for my collection and there were a trio of hats from West Germany in the bunch. Now I know nothing about the FRG collecting arena and was hoping I could get some thoughts on the items here in regards to what they are and if they have any value. I am unable to post pictures but I will do my best to describe the hats. They are as follows:
Green ski type cap with a pair of ventilation holes on each side and two silver pebbled buttons on the front. The buttons are purely decorative as they aren't holding anything in place. The hat has a gray leather sweatband, is dated 1979 and is a size 56. It has a clear, diamond shaped shield on the inside top of the hat that is marked in gold "ALBERT KEMPF K.G. UNIFORMMUTZENFABRIKEN ODMIESBACH 23 8478 TEUNZ BUND Auftrags-Nr-154/79/67 Vers Nr 8405-12-168-4848 1979 56"
The second is a green overseas cap with the bullseye sewn onto the front of it. I've seen some early ones from the 60s on e-bay that look like winter versions because the earflaps fold down to cover the ears and side of the face. This had doesn't have the fold down ear flaps and is constructed of a finer gabardine type material. It has a tag on the inside that says "G.u.F BRAND US12d/01/15563/0027 9.1966 /5 57 8405-12-137-6565" I can assume from all this that it was made in September 1966 and is a size 57.
The last overseas cap is gray in color and is made of a gabardine type material. It also has the bullseye sewn onto the front of it. It was made in June 1975 and is a size 58 or 59. It has a tag on the inside marked "BAMBERGER MUTZEN-INDUSTRIE Q/B 52F/50001/42940 VI/75 Gr.5? 8405-12-160-0619"
My apologies for the long winded descriptions, I know pictures are so much easier and nicer. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
