For some reason I never noticed, until last night, that BW Splittertarn hoods come in two types:
1. 5 evenly spaced female snaps to attach to the jacket
2. 4 female snaps with one male snap between the two middle female snaps
I have 6 different types of jackets and all of them have 5 snaps. I have checked at least two dozen pictures of examples I've seen for sale and they almost always have 5 snaps. I've found one that appears to have only 4.
This caused me to look at my hoods and I found that 2 out of 4 of my hoods have only 4 snaps. Which sucks because they don't fit my jackets and I've not noticed until now because as a rule I don't snap things that don't have to be snapped (avoids problems of damage from unsnapping).
There are two obvious possibilities for this:
1. Limited production run of 4 snap jackets
2. 4 snaps were designed for smaller jackets
I'm leaning towards the second possibility.
Does anybody have anything to add to this?
