    Sleeping bag with hood

Found this sleeping bag, with arms and hood (bad photo; I apologize). From 1962 but looks like it was brand new. Are these general issue or for some special unit?

    Nice one!

There are two versions; one piece (earlier) and two pieces (later). As far as I know these were general issue, but soldiers likely only got them for field maneuvers and not part of their standard kit.

One night, for fun, I slept in one of these sleeping bags inside a tent made from the Amoebatarn type shelter halves (actually, the Belgian version... but same experience). It was a surprisingly comfortable night.

Thank you Steve, appreciate it. Good to know. I guess that its not any interest for things like this other than from a surplus point of view.

This was my "fall asleep while watching TV in the living room" uniform for years. Decades before Snuggies were invented (are Snuggies even known outside the US?).

Marriage put a permanent end to that practice however.

I don't even remember what happened to that bag anymore. These were very easy to come by at one point, from all the usual surplus vendors, and dirt cheap.

Oh, yeah Gene T, we are cursed with the Snuggie here in Europe as well, so maybe this is "Der originale Schnuggie" then :-)
