Gas Canister Help/ID

Hi. Was hoping to get some help identifying/getting information on two gas mask canisters my Father purchased in Germany during the late '70s. What branches used them? Time frame of issue? Any information is welcome.

The red cross decal was added post purchase when the canister was being used to hold a first aid kit. I've seen similar canisters but they seem to have a weird crinkle finish.

Any help is appreciated. Thank You in advance!

Hi Jason,
the second canister was introduced in the Bundeswehr & the BGS in 1958, usually with a thick paint; it was used until the first rubber bags were introduced in 1962. Your canister was used for a "Beatmungsgerät" (Respirator) in medical units in the 60ies. It lacks the thick paint and the intern Lid for the eyeglasses of the Gasmask.

as others said, first can was used by Bundeswehr.

I must add correction. This style was not introduced in BGS until 1960s, much later than for Bundeswehr. The WW2 type cans were used at least as late early 60s in BGS.

Both Bundeswehr all branches used them till 80s
