    PP Bln Schako and cloth cover

    Gentlemen,

    I have been looking for a cloth schako cover as used by the PP Bln for some time. I located one a few months ago and now have time to post it.
    First, the second type schako and badge;

              Very nice Gordon! These Tschako covers are hard to find.

              Also, a nice example of the Berlin Tschako. Can you comment on the chin strap?

                nice find! These seem rare even in period photographs. What is the exact purpose for them - field use?

                Regards
                Klaus

                  Schupo,

                  Not quite sure what you are saying here about commenting on the chin strap but there are a couple of things that I could say;
                  1-it is the only one that I have seen that has a dome fastener in the centre. This would hake it easier to fasten under the chin. Usually, they are solid leather in this section and must be adjusted to fit under the chin;
                  2-leather chin straps are worn by enlisted men and NCOs. Officer follow previous patterns and have scales for their chin strap (over top of a leather one).
                  These two things are pictured below. Both from different states.

                  Regards,

                  Gordon

                    Yes, the snap in the center of the chinstrap is what I was asking about. I have not seen one made like this before. Rather neat.
