      not BGS. It is police breadbag. I would assume PP RH = Polizei Rheinland-Pfalz, but I have not seen this abbreviation before.

        Yes, police West-Germany. I presume "RH" is "Rheinhessen". I have some butter dishes with this marking.

            That answer it, PP RH = Polizeipräsidium Rheinhessen. Regional command of Polizei Rheinland-Pfalz, so this breadbag pattern would be used for other PP in this state also, but with stamps of respective issuing depot (in this case Rheinhessen). Probably 50s/60s issue.

              Is it a pretty safe, if not sure, bet that something with "PP" is Polizei vs. any other possible user?

                yes, PP is abbreviation for Polizeipräsidium (and Polizeipräsident). Not aware of any other uses. Also Rheinhessen was one of the Polizeipräsidien in RP.
