Horde from local show 9-19 15

Grab all he had, and this stuff was pretty cheap. Y-straps dated fro 56-62, mess kits, the green one is dated 56, and the blue grey is 72. gas mask is complete and dated 62, belts I'm not sure of the date. one is pebbled and the other is smooth faced. Cap is a 58 and dated 63. Canteen is dated 55 and cup 60. Finally the gaiters are marked 62 and 63, mostly unissued Enjoy!

congratulations on great finds. I have never see such things at shows! The 56 messkit is early Bundeswehr, the blue-grey is THW/ZB.

Have photo of 56-dated y-straps? I have never seen set from this year before. I have only 1954-dated and then 1958 and later.

            Regards
            Klaus

Great finds! You should check the stamps on the black Y-straps to see what services they were designed for. Common ones are S-H Polizei and BGS, but there are others.

                STUG III,

                Awesome finds - jackpot!

I love the early BGS canteen, wicked cool!

Does anyone know if the smooth-faced Bundeswehr belt buckle is another variation alongside the highly coveted open-faced model?

                Congratulations on a wonderful haul.

                All the best,
                TJ

Thanks for asking the question about the belt buckle! I had the same question but forgot to ask I don't think I've ever seen it before, either stated to be BW or other federal service. Though I don't know if Feuerwehr use for belts.

yes, they did, but not this pattern. 3 types of early Fw belts: double-prong belt (like BGS/Polizei), leather belt and metal buckle with Fw helmet in circle design and a heavy utility belt with clips and d-rings for attachment of firefighting equipment.

Thanks for all your great comments. I will try to supply more pictures soon. The residue you see on the plain faced buckle is what's left of the rubber band or bands, used to store these items.
I'll show some dates and codes later on the field gear.
                      Again thank you all! Dave.
