    1958 Bundesluffwaffe field cap

I picked this up from a friend who served in Germany in the early 60's. I have been looking around for the Army and Navy versions of this cap but with no luck. My question is are these rare or just hard to find?

What does the front of your hat look like? From the side it appears that it is missing the cockade and buttons? It should look like this:

If you want near new condition, but do not care about size, I have a spare somewhere you can have cheap. Unfortunately most of the ones on the market are extra small or small.

I've never seen a Marine version, but the Luftwaffe versions do turn up from time to time. Identical hat, just different cockade.

Hah! Cross posted So I see that yours is an intact LW version. Well, if you want the Heer version, send me a PM and I'll see what I can dig up.

Interesting that the bill on mine is larger and isn't stitched across the front. What is the date of yours?

Yes, the Heer version turns up very often in small size - I actually have two to part with in size 53 being now to small to give them to my children to dress up properly when having a ride in my Borgward ... Size 57 turns up regulary in used condition, everything larger can be called rare. Never in 15 years I saw one in 62 ...
Luftwaffe is harder to get, but yes, Marine even more ... took me some time and needed the purchase of a larger collection to get one! The second picture showas it together with the blue version ofthis cap - also hard to get.

Those are very nice caps you have. A work buddy said back in the 60's when he was living in Germany you could find these caps every where and now it like a needle in a haystack. Right now I am trying to work something out with another member but I would love to have you as a back up if that is okay.

I had size 59 of the Heer version (1959 dated) a few years ago and regret, that I sold it. So if you patient, these large sizes appear occasionally, although this is largest size, that I have seen. If I remember, not pay much for it either.

                  Regards

I don't know why they changed the insignia from the trapezoid. I would like to see them bring it back. Hopefully I am able to add all three branches of service to my collection.
