    Helmets and Uniforms collection

Here are some of the items I have collected and had in storage, just wanted to show off some items.
If some one can tell me the time period of the Camo rain smock, snaps at the waist/neck area, and has no sleeves.
What caused me to pull some of this stuff out was when I saw the 'Pull-over' type smock displayed earlier, mine is a size 52, unissued.
The 50's pattern 'zelt' pattern, forgive my incorrect nomenclature of the jacket. The inside I noticed was done in camo material as well, is this uncommon?
The last jacket is dated 71 and pretty sure unissued as well. Enjoy looking, If someone wants more pictures let me know. Thanks.

                      Hi,

thank you very much for posting this very nice pieces!
I really like the sumpftarn "Schlupfweste" and trousers.

The splittertarn jacket is also a very nice piece. Does the jacket has a label?
The factoring date would be interesting.

                      Regards,
                      Stefan

Here is a picture of the label inside the pocket. Looks like a 59' date.

                          Lots of very nice items!

What's the story behind the orphaned paratrooper helmet liner? What happened to the shell? Am I seeing things or does it have a sagittal (front to back) seam? If so, this is only the second liner I've seen made this way, the other one is in the Versuchshelm I posted here: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=362510&page=2

From your post on page 6 of that para helmet thread, it looks like you did a lot reenacting in the early 80s. Perhaps this liner came out of one of the helmets you wore back then? Or was this a replacement liner that you used to make your GSG-9 helmets more authentic-looking?

                            liner

                            Gene,
Thanks for the kind words. As far as the odd liner I picked it up in a show when I lived out your way many years ago, and yes the stitch line runs front to rear. I've seen this liner in one other helmet posted on this forum, I guess it's a rare bird. I wish I had the helmet it came in! I think someone 'yanked it' out of a GSG9'r to replace it with a more WW2 looking liner. I left the chin strap on it all these years as well. I'll post some more photos of other stuff when it gets unpacked. Thanks again!

Nice batch of stuff! Here's a rundown of the camo stuff:

                              1. Austrian reversible shelter quarter (Zeltbahn). They are a fun item. Shame they never made anything else out of the splinter side pattern.

                              2. BW Splittertarn jacket. Appears to be the early production RKK type made from soft cotton fabric instead of the usual canvas type. Typically these have blue zippers, but I can't see what color yours is. Condition is pretty good. IMHO this is the rarest item in your collection of stuff.

                              3. BGS Sumpftarn smock. You say it's Size 52? Yup, that's pretty darned hard to find! Congrats on that. Yours is in pretty good shape overall, but it seems after the smock had been worn quite a bit someone lengthened the sleeves by removing the original cuffs and extending. It would be interesting to see what the insides of the cuffs look like.

                              4. BGS Sumpftarn trousers, unfortunately with the leg pockets removed. That's a real shame. Saw one sell a week or so ago that was also missing leg pockets. Seen a couple others over the years. I suspect some WW2 reenactor decided to pull them off as many BGS items were unfortunately butchered back before there was a steady supply of good repro stuff. Yours looks like earlier issue (1958?) based on the buttons.

                              5. BGS Sumpftarn rain apron. I am not sure exactly when these were made, but I'd guess late 1960s or early 1970s. They don't appear to have been very popular because they've been readily available in very large numbers for many years now.

                              6. BGS Sumpftarn jacket (1967-1975 timeframe). Looks to be in overall good used condition without demil cuts and with arm pocket still intact. Good!

                              Thanks for sharing!

                              Steve
