    My EK1 2008 Fantasy Piece

In 2008 a petition was signed to bring back the EK for BW servicemen/women. The German defence minister decide that it would not be appropriate. The decision was made because it was felt that the award was tainted by WW2 connections. However the decision was correct because the EK has only ever been awarded in the 1813, 1870, 1914, and 1939 series ,when Prussia/Germany was formally at war, with its survival threatened (as discussed elsewhere in these forums). There was no series for the war with Denmark in 1864 or for the Condor Legion or other foreign actions. This photo of a possible design for a 2008 EK1 though, shows what a reissued EK1 might look like.

I think all in Germany should be thankful this was not instituted

Of course but I am not sure I get your point.

That is very neat! Almost looks like Schinkle strikes again!

According to the thread Uwe linked to the source of the image came from a publication that makes satirical stories (like The Onion?). Presumably the image was made in Photoshop.

Yes it would appear the design originated from a satirical magazine. according to the link. However, the image I posted is my own photo of an actual physical piece I own. Somebody went to the trouble of creating a 3 piece version of this with magnetic core. The one I have is a die struck single piece item though.

                Ek i

                Gentlemen,
There is always a difference between the official talk and what kind of plan officials have in their drawers!
During my active army service in the 80s I worked in the G5 section of HQ III. Corps. After the 2nd day of WINTEX/CIMEX exercise a telex from the MOD came in, stating that after the start of hostilities both Iron Crosses would be
reinstituted. OK, I never saw a specimen, but it could have looked like this one.
                Regards
                Harry

                  Indeed.

I have learned that almoust all of them is made by Nicholas Morigi from Milano (Italy). My piece (in a posted by Uwe link) also I think.
Here is a direct link to his website (where you can buy a lot of reproductions, and some are quite good):

                    Borzadow,

Thanks for the update on where these came from. They are on ebay now with multiple crosses for sale.

                    Regards,

                    Gordon
