    F.W. Assmann & Sohne 588 Ludenscheid

I have some very nice Bundeswehr badges with Assmann makers marks. I also have this old Assmann sales brochure showing a selection of badges, buckles, medals etc. they make for militaries throughout the world (Chile and Paraguay are particularly interesting). However, I am unable to find a website for the business. Are Assmann still in operation?

I have just found out from the archives of North-Rhine Westphalia that they apparently went out of business in 1970. Their old factory in Ludenscheid was demolished since 2008. Any Idea who the current manufacturers of Bundeswehr badges are?

              Jerome,

There are a number of different manufacturers for BRD badges and awards. OLC, a war time maker, is still very much in business. I have a list of some of the post war makers. Some of whom I have identified and some that I haven't. I'll see if I can find the list and post it.

              Regards,

              Gordon

I was awarded the German sports badge in Bronze while stationed in Germany in 1987, it is Assman marker marked. Lol. Showing my age. TPK

That suggests there are still Assman badges in stock for issue, or still were in 1987.

                    Hi TPK,

are you sure, that it is a sports badge DSB (Sportabzeichen)?

Or is it a Bundeswehr proficiency badge (Leistungsabzeichen)?

                    Uwe

                          Lüdenscheider Post-War Manufactors

Assmann, now new formed as Meditec Branscheid Asset Management and Investment-GmbH (label A)

Meditec Branscheid (Jens Oliver Branscheid) (label MB)

Overhoff & Cie (Overhoff and sons) now Brandscheid Kunststoff- + Metallwaren OLC (Brigitte Branscheid absolutly no relationship to J.O. Branscheid from Meditec)
(label Overhoff later only OLC and OLC GmbH)

Friedrich Linden Lüdenscheid Buttons in the later years only Linden Lüdenscheid (I have no proof if they are still in business) (label FLL later LL)

Thats are the well known manufactors of Badges and Buttos from the area of Lüdenscheid, they are a few small manufactors but I cant find my book about Lüdenscheider Buttonmakers.

I will update this list when I have my book found.

Don't feel bad. I got my 'A'ssmann marked jump wings at Altenstadt/Schongau in 1996.
