Nice mint "M53" helmet (and in large size too)! But it appear to be Polizei, not BGS - smooth finish and colour is slightly different. BGS helmets are textured finish. Which Bundesland, I am not 100% sure (possibly NRW or RP?).

Several states used the ventless model for Polizei - model, paint colour and use of decals varied by state. The only states with smooth green ventless model and no decals were Nordrhein-Westfalen and Rheinland-Pfalz, I think shade of green vary slightly between them. Mostly worn by barracked Bereitschaftspolizei units, which were equipped similar to BGS. Regular police sometimes wore helmets for riots, etc.

I agree, police helmet because of the smooth paint. Still very nice condition and I think these helmets look much more badass than the army M1 clones.
