    Very Early Moleskinhose

On ebay.de right now, a pair of early moleskin pants in a style I've never seen. They have a belt, like the early HBT pants! Has anyone else seen these before? As usual with the really interesting stuff, no shipping to North America.

Yup, that's a really nice example of the very limited winter trousers. This item was designed to compliment the first winter parka ("snorkel"). It was replaced by a much simpler and cheaper overpants that continued on in various forms through to the introduction of Goretex.

Here is a thread I made for winter uniform discussion a bunch of years ago:

I see them come up for sale every so often. I have two, IIRC, and they were also from 1959.

So this wasn't simply an earlier version of the first type moleskin trouser? Did it have a button in liner?

No, it's not moleskin at all. It's made of the same (or almost the same?) cloth as the parka. There is no liner for it as far as I know. If there was, it was like the older Teddyfutter type for the Splittertarn uniform. Meaning, it was a layer and not buttoned in.
