          Hi Michael,

I'm pretty sure you are talking about the "Rock, weiß" (white tunic) also called Sommerrock (summer tunic) or Casinojacke (mess tunic).
The white tunic was introduced in 1962 for Officers and Senior NCOs (UmP). It could be worn from April, 1st until October, 31st. Officers and Senior NCOs had to buy them at the Kleiderkasse, they were not officially issued. Note that no insignia except the rank insignia shoulder boards had to be worn with the white tunic. A General's one is depicted here:

The white tunic was cancelled in the mid 1970's for several reasons. I have attached two scans of the 1972's ZDv 37/10 concerning this uniform.

You might be talking about the tuxedo type uniform, what we call in the US Army, the mess dress uniform. This thread has some pictures of the Bundeswehr uniform.

Yes Perfect, I belive that is the one wich I was told.

I am original from the Bundesmarine, and now start to collect Army and Luftwaffe.

We got a white Tunic issued, I guess they was only available as privat purchase piece and not issued as well

                Kind regards

                  Hi Lars,

Just thought I would say that this is true, but if you are a General you can break rules

This is a jacket that I believe belonged to Brigadegeneral Josef Selmayr. I have no reason to doubt that he wore this with the generals Kragenspiegel on it. He probably wore this jacket around 1963/64 timeframe (he retired in 1964). I purchased it along with a tailor made jacket (complete) and trousers. Thanks to Jens I managed to restore it to it's complete glory with correct buttons and shoulder boards.

                  Cheers,

                  Steve

If such an uniform would exist today, I bet every flight crew member would break the rules without being a General and apply his wings ... I would do ...
