Great display! Lots of nice pieces all in one spot, as it should be

Looks like Jens has settled the question of the belt quite nicely. When I bought mine I was told it was experimental BGS I have two and they are different colors. One is decidedly olive green, the other olive drab. Somewhere on this forum there is a nice thread about them and even some pictures from the radio manual about how the belt was used. There is a shoulder strap which the radio can hang off of, from what I remember. I think I have one of those straps.

In any case, there's no evidence to suggest that the BGS used it. However, it is entirely possible that they did since we don't have very good information. It was confirmed in the other thread that Polizei and various disaster response organizations used them for sure. Which makes sense given the relationship and need for cooperation between those organizations.

I went through some photoos today and thought ;aren't these the belts with the gold shiny fittings that Jens refers to ?
I never came across one ever, athough having found hundreds of all kinds of belts, but never these.
Hope this snapshot sized picture doesn't ruin this fine thread.

Kees, took me only 6 weeks to find your nice picture of this three guys ...

Yes, they are all wearing that specific belt ! The belt shown aboce is also not mint but relatively closed to its factory condition. This one has metal fittings made by Assmann, OLC made ones are also known.

I"m going through a ton of belts a week and pay special attention finding a belt like that.
If I ever find one I'll post it here.
          All the best,

This looks like a nice discussion on early gear and I didn't want to start a new thread just for one jacket.

Here is my first BW HBT Arbeitsjacke. I don't know the date as the tag in the pocket has been worn away. I picked up the HBT hat from a German flee market and there is no evidence of having a patch on the front. The inside tag is very faded but looks like it's dated ?/60.

Nice stuff!! Shouldn't the mess kit have leather strap around it though?

Not for Bw. Canvas straps are correct. Leather straps were Polizei/BGS.
