    West German Documents

    I had a look and could not find a thread dedicated to West German documents being shown and so, I have started this one. I appologise if there is one already and I overlooked it ... Cheers, Torsten.

    1st off, a Wehrpass from 1977. No entries of service.

            Here is my contribution: 1950s membership booklet for a member of the Bundesgrenzschutz-Verband eV, a union for BGS members. The man was in his 30s, and probably a WW2 veteran. Hard to see in scan, but joined BGS 1952 and BGSV 1955. Stamps stop for Jan. 1956 and holes punched to void it - probably received a new card.

            Regards
            Klaus

              Torsten,

              Finally found time to post at least one BRD document. A memorandum date 1. 1. 1980 from the Ordengemeinschaft der Ritterkreustraeger e. V. Included with this paper was a death notice for Helmut Schallitz. Basic research on Schallitz indicates;
              SS #286 843; rank of SS-Obersturmfuhrer on 1.30.1944.
              There were only 483 Knights Crosses awarded to SS personnel.

              Regards,

              Gordon

                  Well worth a second look is as well the manager's signature: "Stülpnagel", a well known house. He was an athletic, who participated in the 1936 olympic games, served in the BGS and the Bundeswehr:

                    I had overlooked that for some reason! As mentioned in the link, Friedrich von Stülpnagel was Major i. BGS and Geschäftsführer of the BGSV at the time. Interestingly the signature is actually a stamp.
