      rosenrot85,

I think that you could add a 57 ribbon bar to this tunic but I would not add the actual 57 badges unless the thread loops to hold the badges were already in place. Badges were normally attached to uniforms through the use of thread loops. The needle on the badge, with the possible exception of the metal post war sports award, was not stuck through the cloth to hold the badge in place. The problem with adding a 57 ribbon bar is that it should also have some Bundesmarine ribbons as well. At least those associated with sports. 57 ribbon bars are easy to find. Authentic BM ribbon bars with 57 wards on them are rare.
For this rank he would need some sort of a ribbon bar.
The star above the rank stripes indicates he is a seagoing officer so he would probably have a "Sonderabzeichen Seefahrends Personal" on the right breast of the tunic. See the picture below.

      Regards,

      Gordon

thank you very much for all these explanations! on my jacket, there is no thread loops. I'll do some research on "Sonderabzeichen Seefahrends Personal". again thank you

          rosenrot85,

Your welcome. The badge comes in three grades. Bronze, Silver and Gold. The different grades are awarded for length of time at sea. Time at sea on ships of allied countries counts towards the total time at sea. I posted a picture of a silver badge as for this rank that would be a reasonable grade to use. It also comes in a cloth version.

          Regards,

          Gordon

I would like to ask you a question, perhaps trivial .....

if the coat buttons in a different way (from right to left) is for women?

            hello!!

                  gunter,,

Women's tunics are hard to find. Glad to hear that you have one. Skirts of women's pants are almost impossible to find.

                  Blessings,

                  Gordon
