    West German cap?

My friend has this cap. It is an obvious reproduction. I was wondering if this would be a West german cap. Any help would be appreciated.

Could be a Bundeswehr mountain cap, that someone tried to dye brown to make look like DAK (liner also appear dyed red very badly) and sewed on horrible fake DAK insignia. The sweatband look like it was cut out, and leave only around stitches. Maybe vents also painted tan? They should be grey.

Here is what they look like normally. It has the details of this cap - fabric, shape, plastic maker shield, vent holes identical. These worn still by GJ units.

          West German cap?

Klaus & Kees, thanks for your help. I tried to find a cap on EBAY but was unsuccessful. Was it on EBAY in the United States?

I doubt, that you will find an Austrian Feuerhwehr cap on ebay.com (maybe ebay.de or .at - never looked for one). The Bw caps are often as surplus on ebay in USA, often under "German field cap"/"mountain cap" or "M43 cap" to find, althought often without insignia.

Here is one. Found in "M43 cap" search:

Found only one Austrian Fw cap, but it dark wool version and not same as chiffoniers example:

Here is an Austrian cap, similar to the one that started this thread, that is now for sale on ebay.com. Price is too high in my opinion.

                Regards,

                    Kees,

Interesting comments and thanks for making them. I should post pictures of the cap as sometime the ebay listing will disappear?

                    Regards,

The cap that Gordon posted, has no vents. Is this typical, or are there Austrian FFw with vents? The cap in OP has them and had once a grey sweatband (not brown).
