Gone for awhile, but I am back. Have some problem with differences of the Bergmützen. Not much infos on Polizei Bergmützen and good photos hard to find also. They are not BGS, so I would like to sell them, but want to properly identify them first. All came with Bundeskokarde. The left one look like Hessen or maybe early S-H? Middle one with 1970 date and rough wool, but BGS different by this time.
In question are the left and middle cap. To comparison is, what should be a true 1950s BGS cap (but that is questionable) on right. Cap on left has "low" body, lighter green piping, is grey green colour, silver buttons, 2 ventilation holes painted green. No stitches on visor. Middle cap is "high body" (but not as tall as BGS), paler greygreen with painted buttons, 2 stitches on visor, one ventilation hole painted green. Piping is more bluegreen colour. Flaps are wider than BGS cap.
"BGS" cap has "high" body one hole that is bakelite like material, 2 stitch rows on visors and dark green piping with bluish tint. Except painted buttons, match photos from 1950s exactly (problem - they are bw photos).
Inside of cap on left. Sweatband all around. Label misses. Lining is cotton/linen type material.
Inside of middle cap. Only sweat band in front. Lining is some type of fake silk. Label reads "J. Heinrich Nordloh, Hamburg 22, Hambugerst. 29 and year 1970. Name on name card is Fritzemeer Ä 42. This is same maker as BGS cap, but adress is different and BGS cap has no date.
Regards
Klaus
