It is indeed a Mutzenschirme Offiziere for wear by the rank of Oberfahnrich and Leutnant to Stabshauptmann.....this type of BW visor decoration is called "Kennzeichnungen". It is the cap of a Luftwaffe Officer.
      Prost ! Steve.

Easy way to tell is the enlisted has no silver leaves, Major has two rows of leaves, Generals have gold.

While we're at it... do Warrant Officers use the enlisted hat or the junior officer hat?

            Hi Irideacorgi,

what is or what is meant with "Kennzeichnungen"?

(Kennzeichnungen = markings, depictions, descriptions, labelling)

            Hi Collectinsteve,

with Warrant Officer is meant the "Offizier des militärfachlichen Dienstes" (Fachdienstoffizier)?

Warrant Officer (UK), Warrant Officer (US) or Fachdienstoffizier (GE); there are several differences.

The German "Fachdienstoffizier" (Leutnant, Oberleutnant, Hauptmann, Stabshauptmann) is an officer.

Uwe...German not being my language, I assumed it was/meant a marking, apologies if that is the incorrect use of the word !
              Prost ! Steve.

"Kennzeichnungen" (markings) is the designation of the chapter of the ZDv 37/10 (Nr. 401), where these visors are described. The right designation is "Handstickerei auf Mützenschirm, stumpfgezackter Streifen, silberfarben" = hand embroidery on visor, blunt-toothed silver stripe (or something like that, lol)
