Red cross badges and medal bar

    HI good evening ,
I have seen various differences in the redcross is / was the German Red Cross collars I have ? are these to do with age of manufacture or just different makers and canany one tell me what the medal ribbons are ? thanks .

Is the German Red Cross a pure civillian organisation or is it under military control /

    as always many thanks

DRK is civilian organisation. They wore military style uniforms until 1990s. Now they wear some blue blazer type outfit with grey trousers I think to look more civilian. The collar tabs are probably from different times, but East German also wore this type (think they were darker grey backround?).

Ribbonbar is l. to r. (with my translations):
    - BRK-Leistungsabzeichen in Bronze (Bavarian Red Cross Achievement Badge in Bronze), metal part is reversed - should turn around, so that snake head at top
    - Blutspendenehrennadel für 10 Spenden (Blood Donation Honour Pin for 10 Donations)
    - DRK-Auszeichnungsspange für langjährige Mitgliedschaft, 5 Jahre (DRK Award Clasp for longterm Membership - 5 years)

So this tunic belong to low "rank" member of Bayerisches Rotes Kreuz (Bavarian Red Cross), probably from 1980s, but would need to see entire tunic. The BRK is quasi autonmous within DRK on state level, more than others. Not sure of the details.

    Regards
    Klaus

That's right. The lighter-colored and more elongated collar patch on the left is an earlier pattern.

ok , perhaps not the most exciting lot you will see but the badge medal bar and cap all came together stuffed in the pocket so its a little nice

Definite one of the later uniforms from 1970s/80s. I think pockets are different and material rougher on earlier models.

One additional observation: The sleeve patch is missing from the tunic. (There should be a circular DRK patch on the left upper arm.)

                    Michael,

A nice uniform. Are there any makers tags etc inside the tunic?

                    Regards,

                    Gordon
