reading about the Voss helmet and the atemschutz I thought that I had something to add.
but it's marked HEERESATMER,so no ZB or THW or feuerwehr etc.
on the lid is a text wich reads that you should remove the cartridge(patrone) after use.
I didn't use it,but I also didn"t remove that cartridge so after a while a large white solid foam like material chewed its way through the aluminium lid and made a hole.
I don't know when this breather was made but the oxigen flask has control dates up to '67.

I know from first hand that these sets were used by dutch fire department so probably also in germany.
one large regional fire department base had one and a friendly fireman I know was able to organise the test equipment for the atmer.
it is a RZ 22 universal testing device in working order.
no foam luckely inside.
it has import labels for a dutch retailor.

together with the RZ 22 came a smaller testing device.
a 'widerstandsprüfer fur atemfilter.
also pictured the hoses that go between the atmer and a fully covered face mask.
I'm missing one rubber hose as you see.
the hoses fit the regular gasmask used in ww2 and the bundeswehr.

This looks more like mine rescue equipment than military breathing apparatus. An old one from the 50s/60s. Some pictures of similar equipment in wear.

found this excellent dutch website with an appropiate name;

seems there is a similar to mine breather for miners.
the lid is marked BG for bergbau gerät.
the lid on mine bears the text;HEERES-ATMER and appaers to be a Dräger produced model from 1936 onward.
couldn't find pics of the bundeswehr using them.

Hey folks,

the so called Heeresatmer was manufactured till the end of WW2. After establishing the THW, also THW units used it. From the early 1950s on a successor was developed and also used by the THW, which was called KG210. KG stands for Klein-Gasschutzgeraet.

Thanks for the url of the interesting web site. For some reason when I looked at your pictures I didn't see the HEERES-ANTER stamped on it. It is plain as day when I looked at it to day. Funny how you can look at something several times and see something different each time. Nice piece of equipment to have.
