The "late war" German messkits appear on ebay often. The paint looks old and they have WW2 dates (1943-45). If they real, I not know, but there are many of them.
Here are some photos of Soviet messkits to compare. Unfortunately, I have photo for mine no more, because I sold it a few years before, when I collect no more Soviet. First is postwar style. Note shape of handle attachments resemble Berlin Bepo, but folded and pressed, instead of molded to shape. It was dated 1963 and looked like this (only worse condition):

WW2 M36 more primitive construction, but handle attachments are better made (like Berlin Bepo):
Soviets used some German style messkits from Baltic states also. Here is Estonian made for Soviets:

Welcome to the forum! Austrians and West Germans would not use same equipment, but some will look similar because German influences in Austrian military. Can you post photo of your early Austrian messkit to compare? I find only later photos of ones like this, very different:
